It's been a while but also joining Paint Party Friday, it's my birthday next week, so I've blown up balloons, put on my party hat (yes I do feel a little silly sitting at my desk wearing it) & decided I felt like a little socialising & over-indulging (in a zero-calorie but full of goodness way) by attending TWO Party's... (& maybe have a glass of domestic bubbly too while I'm at it) ;)
Thanks again to Eva & Kristin the talented Paint Party Friday hosts :)
and BTW One of my paintings will be up as a giveaway prize at Pagan Culture on Sunday Oct 20 (so love you to enter if you get the chance)!
So Dark, So Good... 'Entombed'
BTW Someone told me original charcoal was made from human bones, now that's a little dark :/ Have a great weekend dudes & thanks for dropping by!
It does sound creepy but I did read somewhere that charcoal is made up of wood, bones and carbon materials of sort. I don't think it would be human bones though. Love your piece, just awesome. Love the finished look. Great job. Great to see you back.
ReplyDeleteYour drawing is so cool! I enjoy seeing the stages of your work. That charcoal really adds depth to the piece. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteOh Shelle, her face! That expression--trapped,but not by the box (the tomb) but by some emotion she can't get rid off. What a dark beauty...
ReplyDeleteI'm adding it to the party links. Now.
I kept wondering if her darkness was inside...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous woman...fraught with pain...amazing emotion you've captured!! Good job!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
I am amazed at your strokes (into a real life woman) and the outcome with what you used. Very talented. Blessings, Janet (Thanks for your visit/comments, very appreciated.)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece, love the expressive face!
ReplyDeletevery emotional art. she looks as though in a "tomb" to me. Sadness and depression plagues her life I fear. Thanks for sharing the progression it is interesting to me to see that too
ReplyDelete-Kat-
Caught in her own thoughts.....she is gorgeous and quite alarming in her emotion. I don't know how it is that you do what you do, but you do it so well. xoxo Oma Linda
ReplyDeleteSunshineshell so good to 'see' you again!!I wondered where you had gone! I love this piece - it's dark but it's so full of emotion. I love the curves of her body and the shading is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThere is something very compelling about her expression. I think I will be contemplating the simple, clean but evocotive imagery all day.
ReplyDeleteOh Shelle! She is magnificent!!!
ReplyDelete*put's on witchy party hat and holds out glass for bubbly* :D XXX
Lovely work, and happy Birthday when it comes! Nudes are tricky to do, and this one's classy, I just see the beauty of the piece.
ReplyDeleteAlmost as if her expression states ~ her now tortured mind no longer wants to be connected to her beautiful body ~ the source of her griefs perhaps .
ReplyDeleteOutstanding work, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful and dark. It's a gorgeous painting. I really love seeing your walkthrough too.
ReplyDeleteThis made me gasp! Even sharing the process, I can't see where exactly you actually brought her to life - but you did.
ReplyDeletesuch an emotional piece but gorgeous too-wow!
ReplyDeleteFantastic and so hauntingly beautiful...I absolutely love it!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jan
Haunting! Creepy fact about the charcoal! Beautifully done :)
ReplyDeleteOh my!!! She is absolutely wonderful! I LOVE seeing the progression of your painting - and am so impressed with the results! xoxo
ReplyDeleteShelle, she is breath taking! This painting really touches me! I feel you are painting me! I have been in another place this week! All over the place! LOL! The full moon tonight better do me some good! I want this feeling gone! It's yucky! It's a feeling of a bag of emotions! "Entombed" is stunning!!! Big Hugs ;o) Will e-mail tomorrow, hopefully ;o) Behind in everything, again! Happy early birthday beautiful woman ;o)
ReplyDeleteShe is lovely....until you think she may be a corpse...then you feel creeped out thinking she's lovely.....haha!
ReplyDeletePerfect for the occasion, methinks!
Happy early Birthday, Shelle!
Thank you so much for showing the stages; I really love watching the image emerge from the board. Wonderful. And there is something distracted about her face, some thought she can't purge and must return to.
ReplyDeleteStunning art and I especially enjoyed your faces. Happy Birthday for next week and thanks very much for visiting :)

ReplyDeleteWow this is pretty incredible. I love the texture and just the nature of this piece. Pretty creepy indeed especially the longer you think about it. My mind is going in all kinds of directions and thinking up stories about this piece! You've got my creative juices flowing ;) Great job!
ReplyDeleteIt is very interesting seeing the progress of your pieces like that.

Dark and Haunting. A really wonderful bit of work. I love the morose feel and the color is perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove this piece...Very powerful...such visually stunning work! Shine on!
ReplyDeleteVictoria
I love this piece! To me she speaks of a world who doesn't understand her, a strong deep rooted desire to be valued, and now she has fallen apart. She can hardly breath her next breath because her mind is infested with dark thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE HER...
Wow human bones.. that is crazy but sort of makes sense all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteAwesomeness in black and white... LOVE IT!!!!!! ♥ ♥ ♥
ReplyDelete(I don't like the human bone part, lol but the art is amazing)
