Well it happened... a night without storm, then... daybreak, a little bit of blue, sunshine through the grey clouds, oh YEAAAAAAH!
I had to be quick (not a natural state for me) crappola, change batteries in camera, OK, OK now, RUN... out in leopard skin (not REAL leopard skin) nightie, camera in hand, then I see it, sitting in the sun, in an old tin, and the absolutely first thing I see lit by natural sunlight in around 6 weeks... our pineapple...
OK, for my buddies who are not Australian may not know BUT the Pineapple is BIG in Queensland, hells bells we've got a beauty, it's Mega, over 16 metres high and 40 years old, an icon visited by tourists all over the world (sad but true)... right here on the Sunshine Coast : )
But 'our' pineapple is modest in size, we chopped the top off one we bought at the farmers market, ate the juicy part & planted the top in a tin on our deck... now here it stands with a brand new pineapple spouted from something that usually ends up in the trash or compost : )
This is very significant, in Aussie slang, when someone is handed the 'rough end of the pineapple' it means they have been given a 'raw deal'... so for Queenslanders everywhere who have been given the rough end of the pineapple, hopefully given a little time, maybe something beautiful will emerge... fingers crossed x
I'll share our sunflower in the garden with you too, I think it tells it's own story....

Loved visiting your summer posts which we are freezing & hip deep in snow here! Your pineapple is a beauty! I grew on inside once but it never got large enough to ripen and eat!

Makes me want to get a pineapple just to plant....how long dId it take to grow ??
Do you know....if you ever cut a pineapple up and it's too tart for your taste buds....sprinkle some salt, yes salt, on and it will taste sweeter ! Bizarre I know !
You know I just think it took 2 years, and it is so cool just as a decorative plant anyway... then you get this 'bonus' gift just by sharing your deck with it, the perfect hose guest LOL!!! I'd never heard about the salt trick, I'll try it if I get a tart one ;) Thanks for the comments, Pineapples are so gorgeous in their design pleased you all liked the photos too!
