PAINT PARTY FRIDAY - the lovefest continues ;)

Paint Party Friday Post... for those who thought I'd lost interest, sorry but NO I haven't, so deal with it LOL ;) I still LOVE Paint Party Fridays... and I'm back to join in with something I've been doing this week via this wonderfully crazy  (in a good way) blogger called Amy... she is running this FREE tutorial/workshop/thingy and it's really cool, I've never done anything like this online EVER, so, (here's the BIG RAP) it's also the best tutorial/workshop/thingy I've attended/done! So, I'm excited & I'm sharing my work for PPF :)

How to be a Hottie
I bought a fantastic mirror for $6 at the $2 shop :)
So I could draw myself... and also so I can see why I should never greet anyone at the front door again without wearing makeup ;)

Yep my pencil sketch that I did following Amy's step by step tutorial :) although the flithy fingermarks over the whole thing wasn't mandatory...

OK This is my 'mixed media'... If you think I look a little worse for wear here you should have seen it BEFORE I attacked the (acrylic) painting with my pencils & pastels... I may keep working on this or perhaps lock the portrait away like Dorian Grey did in Oscar Wilde's delightful novel ;) I realised my hoodie wasn't glam but, it's not like I was posting in Vogue magazine :)
Thanks for popping by dudettes (& wandering dudes too) Eva and Kristin are the wonderful hosts of PPF if you get the chance, grab a cuppa or wine & party-on :) Stilettos & make-up optional ;)
Ohhh ALMOST FORGOT (actually I did & now I've come back to add it to my post)... I did an art piece I'm donating to save forests in Scotland, it's a charity thing my fellow blogger Martha alerted me too & looks wonderful, my donation may not save much more than a branch or maybe a few leaves at the least, but this is it & it's called "Who will sing for our Children"

Oh I love it! You've done a great job with your portrait. Now you've given me an idea to take a mirror outside to the studio. Really good job, thanks for sharing. Happy PPF!

i love your posts, they always make me laugh! great portrait although i do think you've been a little hard on yourself! i love the little girl-such a poignant image and very fitting. i'm going to go learn more about this forest in scotland thing. happy ppf.

Tammie it is fun & pretty unstructured (I was worried at first I could be thrown outta class for talking out of turn)... not sure about the portrait Gloria, my 17 year old just came in and asked why I looked so old, I told her I hadn't had my coffee before I did it! Thanks Heather, YES you should try, it doesn't really matter how it looks I guess, it's more of a exercise in looking & recording & while I was doing it I realised my eyebrows needed plucking so it was helpful ;) Pointy Pix you little sunshine deprived babe (I don't mean deprived of me, I read your post, 7 days is not enough), yep pop in & have a peek, I'm sending mine off Monday, I think they have to be there by Aug 18... I'm married to a Scot (although he looks more Aussie than anyone) and it seemed good to get involved in (save the forests = save wildlife) otherwise Bambi will be homeless!

You're too hard on yourself, this is great and the donated piece tugs, so sad. Hope they raise a ton of money and lots of help/awareness.

I think I stared at your eyes for too long... I was already taken by you, now I'm bewitched--whoever said the bit about penetrating, piercing and all those kind of eyes that stab you in the sweetest of ways must have been thinking about you. Wow! And the little girl is adorable. I love her sweater and your hoodie.

Wow, I wish I could draw that well! You are so talented. The online class sounds like something I would enjoy.

I enjoy that this portrait doesn't look like a grade school class photograph.:) That was something that drove me nuts about school--all of these polished awkwardly posed portraits. Who looks like that?! I decided to push past that with a piece I titled, "The Hangover". Perhaps I'll post it for the party. Tee hee! Thanks for sharing this with us. :)

Wonderful artwork. Your self portrait is great, I tried one once and failed miserably at it. Sounds like a wonderful cause and your donation and it's title are Beautiful.

EVA said...

Is the top one you too? Or just the middle?

I'm glad to read your daughters comment as I was sure you were being hard on yourself! Especially if the top one is you too!

It is a great painting though! And your little girl with her bird is fabulous.

Cardinals ARE named after Catholic cardinals because of their red (male) plumage. I didn't realize they are just in the Americas until today though. Beautiful and singing all the time!

Whoot!

neat, i'm excited!

also, i totally missed your shit because i switched blogger accounts so i was not seeing any of your posts.

I can't delete my Old gmail yet, so i'm now following you Twice. LIke, the Old Amy account, and the New Amy account.
Except i am following one of those times so that i don't confuse you.

Except now that i think about it, it seems really creepy that i'm following anonymously.

xx,

Your posts are always so much fun!

I had to laugh about your comment about "not greeting anyone at the door without wearing makeup"... Whenever I look in the mirror to do a self-portrait I feel the same way (but I always blame it on the lighting! ha!)

Your charity piece is wonderful... I love the blending in the background :)
