You won't believe this - BUT...

Welcome, thanks so much for calling in, you know how people (nice people) apologise for not having written posts & leaving the same thing up week in... week out... then apologise for not calling in to your blog & visiting when you know they should could have, but have great excuses, like real excuses not like made up crappola...

So I don't want to make up anything, I just want to tell you why I've been so slack...

I was abducted by aliens...
true story...
They had no internet wireless & wouldn't let me come back to earth until I convinced them ET was alive & well & wanted to live out his days with Dora the Explorer at Universal Studios in Hollywood, so I told them they should just back off, give true love a chance, let me go & get back to wherever the hell they came from...
true story...

Now that's out of the way...
I've got some info
I got 2 Awards, OK thanks to Gloria from New End Studio who is into art, aceos, collage, dogs, and numerous things that always make me want to drop on by :) & the other award I just stole from my mate Stacy at MagicLoveCrow she said anyone was welcome & I realised I could do a sorta double whammy award thingy with no extra effort... So (there were rules) I had to say 7 things & give to 15 bloggers for Award 1 & say 5 things & hand on the Award to 5 people for award 2...
So I did the Math, 5 plus 2 things (yep 7 in total to tell)... and because I've always been a rebel, right back to my school years when the nuns told us we had to wear 'tan' pantyhose with our school uniforms & I wore 'grey'... Well... I want to tell you I'm still a mega rebel & bending the rules... Sooo, if you want the award, you just take it, go on, don't be shy, & share some info with your blog friends... it's fun ;)

Here we go...

1. I almost rang over Mel Gibson in a carpark (he didn't look happy)
2. My mum & dad's first date was at the boxers & wrestlers Annual Picnic.
3. I love betting almost as much as art.
4. At school I was picked most likely to become... a nun (that was obviously before the grey stocking incident)
5. I once owned a fifth of a racehorse.
6. I believe the children are our future. Teach them well & let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride... hang on maybe someone else said sung it, but I believe it ;)
7. Did a 'Find your Celebrity Perfect Match' quizz based solely on my birthdate, it came back with 'Michael Jordan' basketballer... I thought it was strange (I'm so NOT a sports fan) until I looked at the his birthday, 17/2/64... I realised it was the exact date of my husbands birthday.

Now it's PAINT PARTY FRIDAY SHOWTIME!!

OK, The first is 2 aceos I have done on hand painted papers I got from a major sweet little Etsy shop called StitchyWooWoo run by Sally who deals in textiles fabrics & paper, I want to run my fingers through ALL her stuff, it's so cool. Rightio, First up is a Sprite & the other Madonna and Child, I wanted to keep a spiritual quality to the paintings, I loved the way the dense almost marbleized background worked with the feathered light figures, anyway & I also found a major cool winged angel sculpture in a library book the Sprite was photographed  with, maybe she's dreaming of better things.

These next 3 artworks came about when my daughter handed me a plastic bag full of books she got at the local fair for $1, a few pages fell from the first book I pulled out, a story from the early 60's, in the tradition of Mad Men, I wanted to give form to the heroines, their ambitions, unrequited love & alienation. I pasted pieces of story & vintage (adds to the melodrama) music over board, gessoed up & did acrylic paintings of the fictional characters & photographed them with suitable sixties movie stills...
Announcement da da daaaa... T.W. you won the random draw for either a customised aceo or gift voucher for any aceo in my store, winners choice :)
OK that's it babes (& dudes if any of you showed)! Thanks for your time, yet again the delightful Eva and talented Kristin for hosting this Paintfest each & every Friday, everyone is welcome so if you haven't joined & would like to... well as Michael Jordan once said... Just do it :)

I just love your ethereal spirit paintings. And the 60's aceo girls are terrific.

My son is a huge Michael Jordan fan; his room is practically a shrine. He would be jealous that you were matched up.

Very nice! I love the colors and the backgrounds to these pieces. Also love the shading colors on their pretty faces. I have not yet learnt this process using color like that for shading.

I love the spookiness of your ethereal paintings....and the gorgeous choice of colors in the portraits below them! You've been busy....but, I guess when you are abducted by aliens, you have to hustle to catch up when they let you go...heehee ;P

You know,my Husbands birthday is just 2 days after yours...same year....I wonder what that says about you and me....hmmmmm :D

I knew there was something going on between Dora and ET!

My family thought I was going to be a nun too; my father still calls me Sor Maria Magalita. In Spanish nuns are called Sors instead of Sisters.

Ha! Mel Gibson seems to stay eternally pissed, doesn't he?

Love all the pretty colors. I wrote 13 about myself after claiming the awards, and wrote about dreams and nightmares. I thought it had just come to me, now I look at "I Dreamt I Could Fly" and realized the idea didn't come out of nowhere after all.

"Words Ripped from the Past..." I like the looks of it and love how it feels in my mouth.

Hugs!

now I want to take the celebrity match quiz.

i love the way you post - not only do i get to look at art that i actually like (so i don't have to make shit up and be like, ''ohhhh hon, looks great" when i don't mean it)
so not only do i love your art (really. not in the internet polite way, but in the 'jesus would you just send it to me already' way)
but you are funny as hell.

i like mel gibson.
i like him extra extra because he is a troubled alcoholic with anger problems.

hm.

i'm deffo taking that quiz.

Congratulations on the award and yay on the one snagged. LOVED your 7 things. How cool that your famous perfect match had the same birthday as your true love. Almost ran over Mel? Now how many people can truly say that??? ;-)

The ACEOs and 1960's artwork are amazing. I do so admire your artistic gifts. I wish I had an ounce of such talent.

Congrats to your lucky winner and have a beautiful week!
