I really don't like Valentines Day... full of promise for those who buy into marketing delusions... look don't get me wrong, I really would love for it to be a magical event, but, I was born a cynic, well actually, no, not born, but when you throw an artist into an advertising department for too long (more than 3 minutes) well... it's not a great combo... but there is one thing I know... I want (like REALLY want) all my blog babes (& that solo dude who bravely left a sweet comment) to have a great day, & if they think no one loves them... well, I do, like, it's not much, but there you go, hugs & kisses... that leads me onto Face 11 - St Valentine, my hubby (the Big F) is an awesome talent, & for the last 22 years he has written a 'story' for me, for Valentines... & the first story he wrote me was about a dude called Broon Green, a futurist Private Dick (you know detective, not a body part) who was soooo in love, he time traveled back to (I don't know, but 'round 'bout) the afternoon of 354... to save St Valentine... well, yep... Broon arrived too late, but the head rolled right to his feet, which he picked up & bought to his beloved in the 21st century... funny dude... finished the relationship... (BTW this is FICTION) So tomorrow is Valentine's & the Big F has been known to be up to 8 months late declaring his undying (don't choke on whatever your munching on) love for me... & I just did a search on his computer... he has nothing... the real reason I call him 'The Big F'? varied & depends, but hey you are all creative.
So reading blogs today (& will continue after this post) Kim from The Wiccan Life wrote this really neat post about the history of St Valentines Day... & this inspired me to do the face here... I was going to turn it upside down... but it's St Valentine, not sure if it's morning or afternoon the year 354, but my girls said it was a bit scary... that's love for ya ;)

Love this face, the color and the mark-making are really lead the eye around. Like the story too. : )
Beautiful pieces, you've got oodles of talent. Love those faces & your use of colours. I'm so glad I came upon your site. xoxoxo
Totally agree with you Shelle! You'll like mine tomorrow ..it's called Unhappy Valentine lol. Your dude has the most beautiful blue eyes :D XXX
Shelle, I agree with you my friend ;o) Big hugs and lots of love right back at you ;o) Big F. is a sweety! And, I think the two of you are a great pair! Love your painting! The eyes are piercing! Wasn't Kim's post interesting? I really liked it! Have a fantastic day ;o)
You are so talented, Shelle. The face is a bit scary, I agree with the girls, but not too scary. I noticed the wonderful job of shading and giving depth to the face before I notice how penetrating the eyes are. Great job. Happy Valentine's Day.
What an intense face .... I REALLY like this painting! It is amazing....
Great eyes and incredible color. Loving all the faces! Beautiful.
GREAT face!!! You totally nailed the eyes, so piercing! Awesome job, indeed!!!
Hugs,
Kim
Awesome face ~ love how you did it ~ namaste, Carol (A Creative Harbor)
My Piano Man and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day. I'm not sure why, but the idea of one day where my love gets reduced to be showed along with everybody else's... no, it doesn't sit with me.
Your Big F *grins at the implication of what happens behind clothes doors after a few glasses of wine* your lover is the best. A tradition of stories, and those eyes, what a package!
And you know what? I love you right back ;-)
GOOD GRIEF! JIMINEY CRICKETS! Your art work - not faces- is really FANTABULOUS! BRAVA!!!! I love it all, the faces and the stories!!!! Geeeezzzz! Are you giving lessons? where do I sign up? You are SCARY CREATIVE!!!
hugz
Great face, looks like he's waiting for an answer. Your faces are awesome.
Love this! I never get the eyes and noses right in my portraits, and these are just perfect! How wonderful to get a story each year! We don't really have Valentine's Day over here (even though flower and other shops have been trying very hard to convince us these past few years that we need it too), so I'm happy to simply ignore it :) But a wonderful day to you anyway!
What a beautiful post!! And drawing!
Your faces are getting better & better... what talent! They're fabulous! And how wonderful that you've been getting a written story from *BIG F* for the past 22 years!! if that's not love, i don't know what is. :-) And i'm with you on the whole overdone marketing with Valentines... and Halloween.. and pyjama day... (it's coming, I'm sure!) ((hugs)) xoxo
Wow, piercing blue eyes, full of expression -- even via that little thumbnail I saw posted on the '29 Faces' F.B. wall I could totally see how mesmerising they were....!
Another great drawing. Love the colors!
Like he's looking right into your soul.....creepy...but attests to your artistic talent...and the power in it!!!
You are one lucky girl...for lots of reasons....but a letter every year is a good one!
Intense, colorful, awesome.
As for Valentines, it's just a good excuse to eat more chocolate :o)
Hey, I'll take undying love any time, even if late ♥
