Hugs, kisses and a world of sisterly giggles to Shelle for letting me guest post at her blog, and an extra loving squeeze for capturing a moment in “AlmaMia Cienfuegos: a Story of Blood, Scars and Nightmares.”
I won’t post AlmaMia’s cover until the very end. I’m afraid if do, many will get lost in the colors and forget about reading the words—yes, Shelle’s artsy magic is that awesome. Her brush was able to illustrate the brightness of the Caribbean landscape, the darkness of AlmaMia’s tale, and the tension going on in the scene I chose for the cover.
This is the first time I go through this kind of creative process, and I’m both impressed and extremely pleased with the results. I won’t explain the meaning of every shade, shape and mark on the cover, but I will say that Shelle’s work portrays the sense of balance between light and darkness, love and hate, and disenchantment and hope, which lives in the words of AlmaMia Cienfuegos’ tale.
Before presenting Shelle’s AlmaMia Cienfuegos inspired masterpiece, I wish to invite everyone to enter a giveaway in celebration of the release of the short story. @Gina, I have been basking on that for days! I can't wait until I get the original art of the cover, so I can put them side by side. I feel like I'm looking at the loveliest inner-bits of my own head and I LOVE the looks of it ;-)

It’s amazing when an artist can bring to life the creative images inside an author’s mind. You’ve both done a great job not only individually but you were able to integrate your talents and work effectively as a team. Good work!
Really chuffed to have been a part of the process, thanks for the kind words Cameron & Jenny :)... Hey Deb & Emi - love those 13 words, they sound like you are describing an AWESOME read!!! Carmen - lucky I done the cover BEFORE I had the lime & the Coconut brew ;) Gina, can't wait to see what you have created, we must be in tune with some cosmic Magaly rays she's giving off LOL ;)

I was seriously bouncing up and down waiting for my copy to download on my phone and then I didn't do literally anything else for like four hours!
Mags that is a great pic of you and this story rocks my face off so hard core.
I drank an entire six pack of peach beer and ate an entire pineapple while I read.
WAS EPIC
You guys make a witchy writer feel all warm inside. AlmaMia couldn't have better audience. She deserves this; I'm so happy you are getting to know her. Can't wait to share more!
And Militant Queer, all peach beer and pineapple sounds like the best combination for this reading... maybe some mangoes, too ;-)
Wow, I read the beginning and it is spell binding ... leaves the reader wanting more right now!
13 words? The one's that come to mind are: fear, dread, confusion, hate, self-determination, steadfastness, love, pain, distrust, stuborness, sorrow, resentment, devastation, mistrust .....
Thanks everyone for joining the fun... next stop is Magaly's blog & then Stacy at MagicLoveCrow before the train moves on to the others (check out the list & please join in).... all aboard... WOO....WOOOOOO
Tasty, juicy, spell-binding, sorrow, freedom. The excerpt makes you looking forward to reading more.
This is so freaking exciting! Not only do I know the hot author of this amazing book, but I also know and proudly own) some of the art created by this outstanding artist. Honestly, people will not be able to speak to me for days. ;-)
You both are super talented and this is a fabulous collaboration. I love the story and the cover takes me right into Magaly's world. My love to both of you.
@IrelandBrady, I hope you get the chance to read the rest. I love your 13 words.
@Shelle, you are too awesome. Thanks so much for having. No, Big F, calm down, I'm not talking about 'that kind of having' although, um.. better be quiet, huh?
@Simona, Sorrow and Freedom, seeing those two words together does something for my heart.
@Mina, It was so amazing to do this with Shelle. We had an incredible exchange about the meaning of the colors, shapes, body postures... which we probably share some day. I always grin when I see our names together. You have my love right back, Mina ;-)
Art of the mind and art of the hands creates art of the heart.
Stunning collaboration!

And when the art is created by friends, the piece has soul!
