aLtEReD oZ

aLtEReD oZ...

Today we're off to see what's on the other side of the rainbow, what 'Oz' may have been with slight aLtERations, let's face it that freakin' tornado could have whipped Dorothy & pals off anywhere... so with apologises to L. Frank Baum and thanks to the wise & wonderful Oma Linda for coaxing me out of my bloghole (crap that sounds like a toilet) we will continue to follow the yellow brick road...

OK there's really only one Oz, it's a land of kangas, koalas & 9 outta 10 (or was it 18 out of 20?) of the world's most deadliest creatures... maybe it's better those dudes didn't land in this Oz, looks like they didn't even pack sunscreen!

I have always been a little perplexed about this roving organ challenged (heart & brains anyone?) group of misfits... and as a kid I was sure there was going to be a romance between the Scarecrow & Dorothy (I had no idea she wasn't a 'grown-up' back then she looked it to me... wonder if anyone's done an X-Rated aLtEReD oZ(?) mmm, maybe not... that could be worse than me thinking Charlton Heston & that female ape scientist would make a good couple in 'Planet of the Apes'... being young can make you stupid... sometimes.

Hearing "Somewhere over the rainbow" has always made me sad, l'm not really sure why, but in this 'aLtEReD oZ' post it was the inspiration for my little painting... (that & the fact they were looking for BRAINS)... so here we have...

aLtEReD Dorothy... Sad, Alone (Memphis my daughter was horrified Dorothy may have eaten Toto!) and searching to quench her desire for... well probably not Lemon drops!

I also aLtEReD Dorothy again, made her a Kansas kid, now it seems pretty obvious why oh why she'd never fly 'over the rainbow' like those Bluebirds... (sans wings)... but then it doesn't stop us from dreaming about it :)

Thanks so much for partying with me! There is a HEAP of fun to be had at Oma's Blog Party & to help celebrate please visit the other aLtEReD Participants and one more favour, please (pretty please) leave a comment here to go in my random draw, winner gets to pick one of my 2 original pieces of aLtEReD Oz art posted here...

and now I'm off...

along that yellow brick road, perhaps we can travel together(?) and have a wonderful adventure :)

I think you got it perfectly right. I don't know why others haven't caught on to the illegalities that that tile the Yellow Brick Road. Drugs, people trying to buy organs, gene work (winged monkeys) Dr. Frankenstein would have been right at home, until Dorothy ate his brains that is ;-)

P.S. Someone already did the X Rated version of Oz. by Alan Moore in Lost Girls... these forward thinkers, go all the way.

Oh my stars.....Shelle you are a genius. Brain eating or duck faced Dorothy is absolutely wonderful....but the kanga just made me bust a gut....fabulous.
I love your sense of humor, I love how you added such a lovely bit of humor and gore all in one spot to Celebrate Oz. I just love every bit.
You (being from Oz) have done Oz proud in many senses of the words. Thank you so much for adding so much to Celebrate Oz. You're a bad goodie or a good baddie..... Smooches and Squoozes, Oma Linda

Oh I love Zombie Dorothy - and picturing her unsuccessfuly trying to bite the Tinman. I also thought Taylor (Heston) and Dr. Zira would have been a great couple if only she didn't find him so unattractive!

I Love Walking Dead Dorothy..she does look a bit green around the gills! I'm afraid she ate Toto AND the Lion! Maybe a Monkey or two and The Witch! I can just see the Munchkins with their clubs and knives and razer-edged poppies fighting off the Oz Zombies. I think you're On to something here!

Shelle, your art is always amazing and unique! You always take me just to the edge of the cliff (altered Dorothy) and then fling me back with an evil laugh (duck Dorothy)! Love them both!

Shelle, you have single handedly convinced me that nobody, not no-one, not no-how, can party like an Aussie! You crack me up with your creatively wonderful creations. I LOVE zombie Dorothy. Oh, poor Toto!

Oh girl, I thought "Charlton Heston & that female ape scientist would make a good couple in 'Planet of the Apes". Still do. Just a couple of romantics, aren't we? lol

Sending you and the beautiful Memphis Southern hugs. Mina

Oooh. Love Zombie Dorothy, and now I'm gonna have to google the x-rated version (get the blue pill ready, Hubby!). I watched an x-rated Frankenstein, and it was beyond disturbing. Shiver. And yes, I know I'm strange, but that Kangaroo is kinda sexy.
