Before the Earthquake

Like all of us connected to the media, be it, internet, television or newspaper, I can not help but but feel sorrow & empathy for our fellowman caught up in the tragedy of Christchurch. I have just watched the updates, and see the 'Grand Chancellor' at the brink of collapse... it is a modern hotel 2 blocks from Cathedral Square, this was where my family stayed 2 nights before the launch of a less luxurious 3 week Campervan (4 berth RV) road trip around the South Island... for anyone who ever gets the opportunity, New Zealand is a magical place, truly, I can not find the words to explain the divine locations, or the breathtaking awe we felt as we gazed on scenes that our muses would flock for inspiration to then pass on to us mere mortals. Below is a postcard of Christchurch, the sweet floral city, with trams, phone boxes left by Dr Who, traditional cathedral & churches, a beautiful river that winds through the city, a city chocka with art and wonderful welcoming people... this is Christchurch before the earthquake. Their loss is huge. Please keep in mind those in despair & send them strength.

Couldn't believe the devastation.....I don't follow a lot of news due to, well, not having time but bloggy friends down under and have seen/read what is going on.
Just heartsick. No other words.

My heart really goes out to the people in New Zealand. We met several people from that area while we were on tour in Europe a few years ago--I keep them and all the rest of the country in my thoughts.

Thanks for this post. Whenever I saw a movie which was filmed in New Zealand, it was something to behold- the landscape, just beautiful. I hope the recovery and rescue is thorough and the rebuilding fills all of their needs. It's a huge job facing them. Sending prayers of comfort and consolation.

(Thanks for your comment on my blog. I was so pleased that you got my sense of humor!)

So much tragedy all around the world.

We watched the 2 seasons of "Legend of The Seeker" which was shot in New Zealand and really could tell what a gorgeous place it is.
